Digital Media Spend To Top £100 Billion In 2015

According to recent predictions by eMarketer, worldwide digital media spend is set to reach £108.8 billion in 2015.
The research represents a staggering 32% increase on the equivalent predictions for digital media spend in 2014, with an increasing percentage dedicated to mobile. These predictions for 2015 continue to show the significance of digital media spend within the wider marketing mix.
Increase in Mobile Spend
With mobile browsing continuing to scale, the research suggests that worldwide mobile media spend will increase by 60%, from £25.7 billion in 2014, to £41 billion in 2015. This is a far greater increase on previous predictions, and shows that mobile cannot be underestimated. Additionally, forecasters predict that worldwide mobile media spend will top £100 billion by 2018, when mobile will account for over 60% of the total digital media spend worldwide.
UK Remains the Digital Leader
While the US remains the dominant advertising market worldwide, the UK has the highest percentage of media spend dedicated to digital. According to the research, £8 billion of the £16.1 billion of the total UK media spend is to be allocated to digital. At over 50%, this shows that the UK remains the worldwide digital leader, compared to the US (31%), China (42%) and Germany (24%).
In brief, mobile media spend is set to increase significantly in 2015, while the UK continues to draw a digital shadow over other advertising markets.
